Maryland’s May 2012 Home Sales and Home Prices Rise

The latest housing statistics of the Maryland Association of Realtors (MAR) show that homes sales and homes prices increased in May this year.

For the month of May this year, a total of 5,328 home units were sold. This was a 10.5% increase as compared to the 4,822 home units sold in May last year.

Meanwhile, pending units – those still under contract – increased from 6,711 pending units in May 2011 to 7,086 pending units in May this year.

The average price of homes sold in May this year in Maryland was $306,672, a 9.4% increase from the May 2011 average home price of $280,300.

The median price, meanwhile, for homes sold in Maryland last month was $259,207, an 11.1% increase from the May 2011 median home price of $233,223.
